Session attach

Mooring's sessions keep running in the background, so your shells and Claude sessions carry on after you quit, and Mooring reconnects each tab when you come back.

"Session attach" in Mooring means your own sessions carry on without Mooring open. Behind every tab, a shell or a Claude session, Mooring keeps a terminal session running in the background. When you open Mooring again, it reconnects each tab to its session.

Keep sessions running when you quit

When you press ⌘Q, Mooring asks what to do with your sessions. Choose Keep Running, the default, and:

  • Every session keeps working while Mooring is closed. A Claude session in the middle of a long task finishes it.
  • When you open Mooring again, each tab reconnects to its session, with the same scrollback and the same Claude conversation, still connected to Mooring's tools.
  • If Mooring is allowed to send notifications, it reminds you that your sessions are still running.

To keep sessions running every time without being asked, choose Keep sessions running in Settings ▸ General ▸ Sessions.

Reconnecting is automatic. There's no button to press.

Sleep

Put your Mac to sleep, and each session picks up where it was when your Mac wakes.

Restarting your Mac

Restarting your Mac ends every session, but Mooring keeps your projects, tabs and Up Next. When you open a project again, each tab starts a fresh session in the same folder. Claude's earlier conversations stay in the Sessions window (⇧⌘Y), ready to resume.

Close sessions on purpose

To end sessions instead, choose Close All when you quit, or choose File ▸ Close All Sessions… at any time. Each session gets the chance to finish on its own first, and a Claude session saves its conversation.

On this Mac only

Session attach works with sessions on your own Mac. Connecting to sessions on another Mac or an iPad is an idea for a future version of Mooring.
