Mooring docs

Voice input

Say an idea and Mooring writes it into a new Up Next card while Claude keeps working. Your speech is turned into text on your Mac.

Ideas often turn up while Claude is busy in a tab. Press ⌥⌘M, say the idea, and Mooring writes it into the New note box at the top of the Up Next pane as you speak. Claude carries on in its tab the whole time.

Claude is at work in its tab.

Dictate a card

  1. With Mooring in front, press ⌥⌘M, or choose Edit ▸ Start Voice Input. You can also click the microphone in the New note box.
  2. Speak. Your words appear as you say them, with Recording… and a level meter to show Mooring can hear you.
  3. Press ⌘⏎ to stop and add the card in one step. Mooring waits for your last words before it adds the card.

To stop without adding the card, press ⌥⌘M again, or Esc. The text stays in the box, so you can edit it before you click Add.

If you are editing a card when you start, what you say goes into that card instead of a new one.

The first time, macOS asks whether Mooring may use the microphone.

Your speech stays on your Mac

Mooring turns speech into text on your Mac, with Apple's on-device speech model. Nothing you say is sent to a server. The model for your language must be installed: Settings ▸ Voice Input ▸ Voice model shows whether it is, and installs it if not.

Settings ▸ Voice Input

  • Enable voice input turns dictation on or off.
  • Language is the language you speak.
  • Toggle recording is the shortcut, ⌥⌘M at first. Click it and press the keys you want instead.
  • Stop dictation after silence stops the microphone after that many quiet seconds, 20 at first. Set it to 0 to never stop on its own.

Find an earlier dictation

Edit ▸ Recent Voice Inputs lists what you've dictated lately, across every project. Choose one to copy its text again, for example if it didn't arrive where you meant it to.
