Status badges

Mooring shows two different things on tabs and sidebar rows. Is a session running here, and does something need you?

Mooring answers two questions separately, because the answers often differ. A session can be running and not need you, or need you after it has stopped.

Is a session running here?

A small mark on the right of a sidebar row shows that a session is running in that project or worktree:

  • Claude's mark means a Claude session is running there.
  • A terminal icon means a shell is running there.
  • A small dial replaces Claude's mark while Claude is working. It shows roughly what Claude is costing per hour. Click it for details. See Claude usage and plan limits.

Does something need you?

A blue dot on a tab, or on a sidebar row, means a session there needs you. It appears when:

  • Claude finishes a turn, or is waiting for you, in a project whose bell is on. The bell is in the project strip. Click it to turn it on or off for that project.
  • A terminal rings its bell, for example when a command you left running finishes.

When a session needs you, Mooring also:

  • Posts a Mac notification. Click it to go straight to the tab.
  • Briefly highlights the worktree's row in the sidebar.
  • Plays a soft sound, if you turn on Play a sound when a terminal needs attention in Settings ▸ General ▸ Feedback.

If macOS notifications are turned off for Mooring, Settings ▸ General says so and offers a button to fix it.

Flag a row by hand

Right-click any tab, worktree or project and choose Flag for Attention, like marking a message unread in Mail. Choose Clear Attention to remove it. This flag is just for you. It sends no notification.

Tabs near a plan limit

When Mooring winds Claude sessions down before a plan limit, each tab says where it is:

  • winding down… while Claude finishes its step and writes a note.
  • stopped once it has stopped, with no restart planned.
  • restarts and a time, while it waits to restart when the limit resets.

A session that is showing a permission prompt is never typed into. The Usage window shows it as Waiting for you, with a Stop It Now button. See Claude usage and plan limits.
