Mooring 0.20.0
Finished a branch? The Assistant can now commit it, open the pull request and merge it, so the paperwork is done before your coffee goes cold. Files, Changes and Up Next also share one panel.

Take a branch all the way to GitHub
The Assistant now does the GitHub steps for you, one button at a time. Getting finished work onto GitHub used to mean switching between Mooring, the terminal and GitHub for every step. You stay in control of each step, and nothing is committed until you approve it.
- Plan the commit splits your ticked files into commits. You read the plan before anything is committed.
- Open PR writes the pull request title and description.
- Merge happens once GitHub says the pull request can merge. The card closes too.
- Failing checks and review comments go to Claude.
- Push brings in the remote's new commits first. Conflicts stay in the Changes tab until you resolve them.
- Update brings in new work from your worktree's base branch.
Files, Changes and Up Next in one panel
The three tabs now share the right-hand panel. Before, each of these had its own pane, so you spent time moving between them to find the file, the change or the card you needed.
- Hold a file over a tab to switch to it, then drop the file onto a card.
- ⌥⌘1, ⌥⌘2 and ⌥⌘3 open Files, Changes and Up Next. ⌥⌘4 shows or hides Favourites.
- Breaking change: Up Next moved from ⌥⌘I to ⌥⌘3. Use ⌥⌘3 to open it.
- The title bar shows which Claude tab is busy, how many files are uncommitted, and the next step.
- The sidebar shows each worktree's next step.
The Assistant on every card
Each card now has Details and Assistant tabs. The chat used to sit apart from the card. Now it lives beside the card's details, and it remembers where you left off.
- ⌘1 shows Details and ⌘2 shows the Assistant. Mooring remembers your last tab.
- Clear chat removes the conversation and leaves the card alone.
- If Claude cannot start, the Assistant says why.
- Dictation works the same in every box. Press ⌥⌘M to start and stop.
- Right-click a stray change to move it to a new worktree and card.
Pick a character
You can choose the character that speaks for the Assistant. Each character says the same things in its own words, so the choice changes the tone and the look, not what the app tells you.
- Settings ▸ General ▸ Assistants offers the default, Compass, Nova, Owl and Static bars, and two new characters drawn as the ✦ sparkle, one solid and one ringed (Orbit).
- Motion can be Animated or Still.
Claude picks up where it left off
Restarts no longer end your Claude conversations. Before, a restart could leave each Claude tab as a brand-new conversation, and you had to find your way back into each one.
- Each Claude tab returns to its conversation. If that cannot be resumed, the tab starts fresh.
- Restart Session starts a fresh Claude in the tab's folder.
- Wind Down stops background agents, and a restart starts them again.
- The footer shows when Claude's work costs extra, and until when.
- When Anthropic asks Mooring to wait, Mooring waits, and the Usage window says so.
Also new
- Each project can have its own icon.
- The project strip is gone. New tabs open from the + after the last tab.
- Tabs look like folder tabs, and text is a little larger.
- A deleted comment leaves a Restore button where it was.
Fixes
- Switching projects no longer freezes Mooring while it reads every linked card.
- Closed card windows no longer slow the app.
- A stalled sound system no longer freezes Mooring.
- A card dropped on Claude during a question now fails with a sound and a message.
- A tab shows Done only when its background agents finish.
- A merged pull request shows as merged, and its card closes.
- A click on the Dock icon opens one main window.
- A new worktree's tab stays connected to its terminal.
- The Changes list keeps its full height when you switch worktrees.
- A fresh install opens the right panel on Up Next.
- The Character gallery and Claude Usage stop drawing when closed.
