Mooring 0.13.0
Coxswain now works inside a card as well as its own window, and can read your code rather than only your backlog. Cards became something you can copy text out of, ⌘⌫ archives instead of deleting, and what you delete can be brought back.
FeaturesImprovementsFixes
In 0.13.0 we've extended Coxswain, Mooring's built-in AI agent, to work inside a card as well as its own window, and to read your code rather than only your backlog. Cards also became something you can copy text out of, and what you delete can now be brought back.
Coxswain in the card window
- Open any card and Coxswain is at the bottom of the panel down its right-hand side. Pick one of the suggested questions or type your own, and you're talking about just that card.
- Which suggestions you get depends on the card — draft acceptance criteria when there aren't any, sharpen a thin description, split one that's grown too big. "Is this a duplicate?" and "Is this still relevant?" are always there.
- When it wants to rewrite a field, it shows you the old text beside the new and waits. Apply takes it, Edit opens it in the editor, Discard throws it away. Nothing changes until you choose.
- Applied changes show up in the card's History as Claude's work, and ⌘Z undoes them like anything else.
- If you've got unsaved text in that field, Apply and Edit both stop and tell you, rather than writing over it.
It can read your code now
- Ask whether a card is still worth doing and Coxswain can go and look. Instead of guessing from the card's wording, it can tell you the work already shipped and point at the file and line.
- It can only read. No editing files, no running commands, no builds.
- Worth knowing: its file access isn't limited to the project folder. It's read-only, but it can reach anything your user account can read.
Copying things out of a card
- Card text selects normally now. Drag across a comment, the description, the acceptance criteria or the summary and press ⌘C.
- Clicking a ticket key copies it. That's the one bit of a card people retype into branch names all day.
- For a whole field, right-click its heading — DESCRIPTION, ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA, SUMMARY, or a comment's name — and choose Copy. You get the Markdown it was written in. Right-clicking the words themselves gives you the standard Mac text menu instead, which copies what's on screen.
- Copy Card as Markdown, from the ticket key or the title, gives you the heading, description, acceptance criteria and comments in one paste. Handy for a commit message or a PR.
- Right-click a row in History to copy the full line.
- Any comment can be edited or deleted now, including ones Claude wrote. Before, only your own had a menu at all, so nobody could fix a wrong comment left by an agent. Your edit is recorded as yours and keeps the old text.
- Since clicking the description or acceptance criteria now starts a selection, use the Edit button by the heading to change them. An empty one still opens for typing when you click it.
⌘⌫ archives instead of deleting
- ⌘⌫ on a card takes it out of the backlog and ⌘Z brings it back. No dialog.
- There's a new Archived filter at the top of the backlog for looking through what you've put away, and ⌘⌫ there puts a card back. Archived cards keep whatever status they had.
- To really delete a card, right-click and choose Delete Permanently. That still asks, still can't be undone, and no longer has a keyboard shortcut.
- Archived cards are left out of the counts, the bar at the bottom of the window, Recently Done, Coxswain and anything agents see. Backups keep them, and restoring keeps them archived.
Deleting a comment, file or link can be undone
- ⌘Z puts it back, and an attachment comes back with its file intact. These no longer ask first either.
- If you notice later, each of Comments, Attachments and Relations grows a small "N deleted" section listing what was removed, with a Restore button. It disappears once you've restored the last one.
- A removed link can be restored from either card, and comes back on both.
- Removing a link used to look like it did nothing — the list kept showing it. The removal always worked; only the display was stale.
- History still records the removal, and that record stays.
⌘Z only undoes your own work
- Press it a few times too many and the backlog could empty out, or a project disappear. Mooring was recording undo steps for its own background work: first-run setup, AI summaries arriving, internal timestamps. None of that was ever meant to be reversible. Now only your changes get recorded.
- The Edit menu names what it's about to undo: "Undo Change status", "Undo Move to Project". If the change wasn't yours it says whose it was: "Undo Claude's status change", "Undo Coxswain's tags change". So you can undo an agent's change knowing whose it was.
- Moving a card between projects undoes properly again. One thing it doesn't restore: the card's worktree link, since a branch belongs to the project it came from. History records what it was.
- "AI Tag" and "Add to .gitignore" can be undone. Both were registering their undo somewhere Mooring's ⌘Z never looked, so it had never actually worked for them.
Favourites
- A new favourite shows up straight away instead of after a restart. Nothing was ever lost — each one saved correctly the first time, it just didn't appear.
- Press "Add favourite", change your mind, click away, and the empty one is discarded rather than left in the list forever. Anything you typed is kept. Blank ones left behind by earlier versions get tidied up when you open and close them.
- A favourite's ⌘⌫ menu item said "Archive" and then deleted it. Favourites have no archive, so it now says Delete and asks first.
Coxswain windows
- They don't come back empty when you relaunch any more. macOS used to reopen them as a shell with your chat's title and nothing in it, asking to start Coxswain again for a project you might not be going back to. Closing a window mid-session still keeps the conversation, and reopening it picks up where you left off.
- The "Open Coxswain?" prompt could flash up several times on launch, once per restored window. It asks once per project now.
For agents
manage_itemgainedarchiveandunarchive. Until now an agent could see the archive but not use it, so its only way to clear a card was to delete it outright. Archiving an already-archived card does nothing at all. Archives an agent makes are attributed to Claude, not to you.list_backlogtakesarchived: truefor browsing the archive. The default is unchanged, so an agent asked what's left to do never gets handed work you've put away.- Removed links no longer show up for agents, and removing one that's already gone reports that nothing changed instead of claiming a removal it didn't do. Removing a link that never existed is still an error.
delete_commentandremove_relationare soft deletes, so you can recover from a wrong one. Re-adding a link you removed revives the original rather than creating a duplicate.- Adding a link from a card now only searches the same project — it used to offer your whole library, which made accidental cross-project links easy. Existing cross-project links display as before, and agents can still ask for one deliberately.
